Her growth was aided by therapy. She encourages others when they need to reach out for assistance. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian descent. In 2010, her parents purchased her a brand new guitar, which she used to further develop her passion for the music. In the age of 13, she started covering songs she adored on YouTube in order to show people that she was talented and was able to pursue a career as musician. A cover of one of her songs, Sweater Weather, was what got her noticed. EP Entertainment gave her an opportunity to develop and record her own tracks.
